Quote of the day

Get inspired

I have been feeling a little inspired lately, my attitude has changed about a lot of things and I am excited about new adventures in my life, I have to admit that I usually hate even the thought of change but now I want to welcome it!

I think a lot of us see change as a negative when really most of the time it’s a positive – and you know what they say –  “a change is as good as a rest” I don’t know who ‘they’ are, but I think I like them.

If you have been feeling a little blahh then you need to make some changes in your life! It could be as simple as having a clean out in your bedroom, sort through some of your old clothes and give them away to the needy. Are you board at work, approach your boss and ask for something more challenging and exciting. Maybe your relationship isn’t going well, leave it behind! Set yourself some goals and make a plan to stick to them!

I have been reading a lot of blogs lately from some amazing people who have decided to quit their jobs and chase their dreams, work for themselves, travel the world and even go back to uni for a new career, sometimes we get stuck in a rut and we don’t take the time to think about what it is we really want….

So what is it you want? What are your dreams? What gets you excited and inspired? Write the answers to these questions down and think to yourself if you had an endless supply of money would you do them? You can live your life thinking one day….one day when I have the time or the money…. well that should never be a barrier!

Are you scared you might fail? Maybe you are scared of your success? You never know what could happen if you don’t do it! I propose that you create yourself a vision or dream board, it doesn’t have to be fancy, you can write your dreams and goals on it, cut pictures out of magazines or get out there and take some photographs of the things you want and the things you want to achieve. Hang it on your bedroom wall where you can see it everyday to remind yourself of what the future can bring and what you want to achieve!

Want to feel happy and excited about things? Get out there!! Choose a hobby, take up a sport or running, join a book club, the world is your oyster and life is what YOU make it! I have never played netball before but I just joined a team for fun, I have met new people and I get some extra exercise! A friend of mine decided to start her own book club with friends from all over the world – they each purchase or borrow the same book and give themselves a month to read it then Skype each other about what they thought of the book.

Life is short and it should be fun and filled with happiness, so get out there and be inspired by what the world has to offer!

What are you waiting for? Xx

Get crafty

I had quite a fun weekend doing some very crafty bits and bobs and here is a collage of some of the pics I took.

I had some left over red roses from an order I had on Friday so I arranged them in tea cups with some different accessories, heart shaped box, striped vase, jewellery and rose petals, I used a vintage camera app on my iPhone for most of the photo’s because I love how romantic it makes the roses look.

I also got crafty making a necklace and matching earrings which you can also see in the photos, this was fun using chunky beads of different shapes and sizes, I love the end result and I hope the new owner does too 🙂

I made myself a few long chain necklaces so I will take some pics and get them in my next blog! I also hand crafted some cards on Monday night but my photos didn’t come out so great – bit of a bummer!

Need to finish my big project this weekend – The door desk! My wonderful Father made me the most amazing desk ends out of steel so this weekend I need to get painting, can’t wait to show you the end result 🙂

Have a great night..chow for now!

Quote of the day

It’s Friday! I always look forward to the weekend and this weekend I have decided to get crafty, I always have things I want to make or do but never seem to have the time, I have a few projects that I started but never finished… I started sewing a shirt for work, all I have to do is sew the arms on but have never gotten around to it so that is on the agenda!

A DIY project that I am very excited about and have started but need to continue with is my new office desk! I am making a computer desk out of a door, I have under coated and painted the door but now need to make it look worn and rustic – I will document and upload photos as soon as I am finished.

I really want to do another little styled photo shoot of some flowers, I got some gorgeous red roses this morning and want to put something together and photograph it this weekend so I will do something amazing (I hope) and they will be in my blog on Monday!

I have some friends Birthdays coming up next week and I really want to create some beautiful cards to post them, so I will get into the craft room and get crafting! Which I will also photograph to show you what I have done!

I also think there should be something to send in the cards, I make jewellery so maybe some fabulous earrings for my friends too?

I look forward to doing a bit of a photo diary of all the things I have created and uploading the pics for you to see – I hope you have a wonderful weekend and have time to read my DIY blogs next week!

Boho Style

I think it is so much fun to try different styles when your into different fashion trends and one that has always been my fav is Boho. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Nicole Ritchie rock this look and so can you! Here are some of the items you need to look boho chic!

  1. Boho style stacking – you can search through all your jewellery and mix and match your fav’s or make your own!
  2. Boho style head band – Long hair or short feather and lace headbands are just what you need to pull of the boho style
  3. Boho style hair – add a feather or three, so easy to make, grab some coloured or earthy toned string and tie a long feather to then end, put your hair in a messy pony tail and tie the string around your hair tie!
  4. Boho style clutch – the perfect way to finish your boho look is with a boho clutch, browns and black fit best but lace or woven with a splash of coloured thread looks fab too
  5. Boho style rings and things – stack em up, dig out those vintage rings you borrowed from your Mum’s jewellery box and add some modern chunky ones to complete the look, and don’t forget to have funky painted nails
  6. Boho style bag – I love this shoulder bag, the crochet doily is super cute, if you can’t find one similar, buy a pre-loved bag from an op-shop and add some crochet to it yourself!

Have fun dressing in your boho style Xx

Friendship, it ain’t so easy!

Lately I have been finding it a little tough to keep in touch with friends, I have been feeling like a lot of my relationships with people are very one sided, I am always the one to send a text or an email to try and catch up and sometimes I find I don’t even hear back!? This blog is to help me get these feelings out in the open (as I always bottle things up) and hopefully help some of you feel better about your relationships with friends!

Friendship is a two way street – I have been talking to a few of my friends lately, catching up for a walk or a coffee and having a good old chin-wag and I found out that they have been feeling the same way with some of their supposedly close friends! I know life is busy, but it is busy for everyone so that is not an excuse! Why is it that some people don’t put in the effort? And is it time to let go of these one sided friendships?

Here is a quote that I think sums it up! As we grow up we realise its less important to have lots of freinds & more important to have real ones – This is so true! You grow up, you change, you grow apart and I think this is important to remember, I have a lovely friend that lives just over an hour away from me, we went to high school together and have been great friends for over 10 years now, we have had patches where we don’t see each other often and don’t have much contact but I know she is there for me know matter what! Now that we are in our late 20’s I think we have realised that some friendships will follow us through life and some won’t! We catch up as often as we can, we text and tweet each other every week and it doesn’t matter that we might not see each other for a few months we are still as close as ever.

So even though I feel a little sad that some friends I thought were really close and would always be around have slipped off the radar it is really comforting to look at the friends that are still right there waiting for you.

Let me know if you have been feeling this way about some of your friendships, I would love to hear from you!
